[The topic of the existence and significance of Extraterrestrials and UFOs has been coming into the world's attention much more frequently of late with recent numerous sightings around the world. The following input explores various opinions regarding the possibility that aliens do exist and that UFOs are a reality.

The movement currently arising to encourage true government disclosure regarding UFO and alien contacts points to the strong likelihood that humankind will be continuing to hear more and more about this enigmatic topic.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi's comments regarding this mysterious phenomenon have been made available to us through Nicole's personal recollections.]

Dear All,

A SY has emailed me some very interesting URLs which come from India Daily. Apparently India Daily are reporting what almost no other democracy other than India, are openly reporting, i.e. the existence of Extraterrestrial UFOs.

Do i believe they exist?
Yes.
What evidence do i have?
When i was living in New South Wales in the 1980's i saw something in the sky that was doing what i have seen no airplane do. It travelled across the sky in 90 degree angles! It travelled very swiftly in one direction, then made a facile 90 degree turn and travelled very swiftly in the other direction. It did this with no slowing down, pause, or any hint that it required a bit ofcompensation to make that abrupt turn. It did this several times, traversing the sky as if there were no such thing as gravity or friction. It just seemed to slide across the sky at a speed i have seen no airplane cover the sky at. i could compare it to the ease with which a person can glide their fingers over a window pane. i know what i saw was not of the ordinary. And that's why i believe UFO's exist.

But now we have in India, the Space Agency coming out openly and declaring them.

A Sahaj Yogini told me in the mid 1990's that Shri Mataji said they were in our future. i think that future may be here already, given the articles from the India Daily. Maybe, like some of our movies show, there is a help for human beings, to help them get over all the problems they have created. Maybe, this is all for the betterment of mankind's future into the Golden Age.

If you believe in none of this, i advise that you keep an open mind, anyway, LOL! Because you don't want to be too shocked, if it really does happen that we get Extra-terrestrial help! However, i am sure that with God, all things are possible!

So enjoy the articles below, and keep an open mind, OK?!

love from violet

Dear Violet and all,

To follow up the post you sent a few weeks ago, i would like to confirm that i heard myself Shri Mataji replying to a sy who asked about the possible existence of extraterrestrials, that she would speak about them in the future. It was in the mid-nineties.

I also read a talk (unfortunately i don't have it anymore...) where She explains that there are two kinds of extraterrestrials : some are good while the other are bad, but technologically more advanced than us, and that we are spiritually superior. She also said that they (the bad ones) had a lot of metal in their bodies.....

[Isabelle's comments regarding the crop circle phenomenon included a brief reference to 'luminous entities' encountered by some participants while meditating in the crop circles. References to UFOs and 'balls of light' are also made by Credo Mutwa, Zulu spiritual leader.]

Some chanellers who go and meditate in those circles have apparently made "contact" with luminous entities who declare they have helped mankind for millenia. These entities have helped the ancient civilizations (Mayas, Egyptians, Celts...)to erect pyramids and other monuments (stone circles for example) which acted as temples and places of connection between Earth and Cosmic energies. They say that today, they try to attract "modern free thinkers" to the ancient sites to reactivate the energies of those sites and interact with human beings.

They have announced that England being the heart chakra of Mother Earth, it is important that this chakra is cleansed so that the whole of mankind can evolve and awake !

IZISHOZE ZAMATONGO - Credo Mutwa shares Africa's traditional knowledge about Crop Circles and related phenomena
by Andreas Müller, 2006:

"Also our people have observed the crop circles in the making. This is when they have seen the lights, balls of light spinning in the air and on the ground. But then the people moved away because they don't want the Gods to get angry – they hide in their houses while the Gods are finishing making their messages. These light-phenomena also happen in other places of great holiness."

Author's note: Flying lights and things we would call UFOs are also known in the Zulu and ancient African Tradition. They are called "Abahambi Abawutayo" and Credo Mutwa writes about them also in his book "Song of the Stars":

"There are things that fly through the night, those you call UFOs, which we in Africa call ‚Abahambi Abavutayo', ‚the fiery visitors'. Oh yes, Africa has had her own share of UFOs, and she has for many, many centuries, long before they were even heard of on other parts of the world, we, the people of Africa had contact with these things." (MUTWA 1996, 121)

Also similar observations are known to be connected with crop circles worldwide. So-called "Balls of Light", "Orbs" or "Luminosities" were seen by many crop circle enthusiasts over the years. The most spectacular event include even the forming of crop circles as some sort of interaction with the light-phenomena – just as described by Credo Mutwa too.

[Some recent, unexpected and surprising confirmations of the existence of aliens follow:]

Ed Mitchell Confirms
ET Visitation
Moon-Walker Breaks 60 Year Coverup
The Daily Telegraph - UK
7-24-8

Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens exist.

And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.

Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.

Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now".

Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.

"I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real," Dr Mitchell said.

"It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.

"I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited. Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit."

Dr Mitchell, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics claimed Roswell was real and similar alien visits continue to be investigated.

He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organisations are moving in that direction."

Mr Margerrison said: "I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there and there's no debating it."

Officials from NASA, however, were quick to play the comments down.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe.

'Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue.'

Former Canadian Minister of Defence Paul Hellyer talks about Bill Clinton, U.S. government policy, and Extraterrestrials at UFO conference

Preface:

Paul Hellyer.

Paul Hellyer speaking at the 4th X-Conference, Hilton Hotel in Gaithersburg Maryland, on 19 April 19 2008. The X Conference is sponsored by the Paradigm Research Group which is dedicated to disclosure on the truth about the extraterrestrial presence on earth, and the impact and effect of that presence on our lives, past, present and future. At this conference Paul Hellyer, founder of the Canadian Action Party, former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, former Minister of Defence, and other cabinet positions in previous Canadian governments, was honoured with the award for political courage. George Noory, host of Coast to Coast talk radio, received the award for communications courage. Dr. Edgar Mitchell, astronaut who walked on the moon, received the award for intellectual courage. Dr Jesse Marcel, medical doctor whose father in the USA military collected the significant remnants from the Roswell 1947 UFO crash, received the Stargate award.

Paul Hellyer's presentation begins:

I wish I were in a mood for good humour, but I am not. We are hell-bent in the direction of destroying our planet, and we appear to be doing precious little about it. Decades ago visitors from other planets warned us about where we were headed, and offered to help. But instead, we, or at least some of us, interpreted their visits as a threat, and decided to shoot first and ask questions afterward. The inevitable result was that some of our planes were lost; but how many were due to retaliation, and how many were a result of our own stupidity is a moot point.

Wilbert Smith, one of the first Canadians to take an active interest in the subject of UFOs, asked the visitors about the accidental destruction of our aircraft by flying into the vicinity of a flying saucer. The response: we were informed that although a few of our aircraft had come to an unfortunate end by what they considered colossal stupidity of our pilots, they were now taking corrective measures to avoid our aircraft.

I asked them what happened, and they said, ‘Well, the fields around the saucers in order to hold them up, in order to produce the gravity differential, the time field differential which were necessary to operate the ship, these sometimes produced field combinations which reduced the strength of materials to the point where they were no longer strong enough to carry the load that the materials were expected to carry’.

Now, as we know, aircraft, particularly, the military type, are built with a rather small factor of safety, and in these regions of reduced binding, the materials are no longer strong enough to carry the load and the craft simply comes apart. This didn’t satisfy our military chiefs who must have thought that it was more important to secure American nuclear superiority-- even though using it would result in the annihilation of us all- than to take the hint and start moving the planet back from the brink of a global holocaust. They, the military, must have been and still are, so paranoid that they feel it necessary to use the visitors’ technology to fight them off, rather than welcome them as partners in development- though they may have seconded some renegades to assist in what can best be viewed as diabolical developments.

Stephen (Bassett) has said that talking about UFO’s is passé and that we should be talking about exo-politics. In theory, I agree, but in reality we have a problem when official U.S. policy insists that UFO’s don’t exist. The veil of secrecy must be lifted-and now, before it is too late.

It is ironic that the U.S. would begin a devastating war-allegedly in search of weapons of mass destruction- when the most worrisome developments in this field are occurring in your own back yard. It is ironic that the U.S. should be fighting monstrously expensive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan allegedly to bring democracy to those two countries when it, itself, can no longer legitimately claim to be called a democracy when trillions of dollars have been spent on projects about which both the Congress and the Commander-in-Chief have been deliberately kept in the dark.

How much has been accomplished in sixty years of feverish activity by some of the most highly educated minds in the U.S.? Has America developed flying saucers that are visually indistinguishable from the visitors, as alleged? And if so, what do they propose to do with them? Even more critical, what progress has been made in the development of clean energy sources that could replace fossil fuels and save the planet from becoming a veritable wasteland? Who has the answers? Someone does, but apparently they aren’t telling either secretaries of defence or presidents because they do not have a need to know.

In a story told by Dr. Stephen Greer, President (Bill) Clinton was asked a question by White House reporter Sarah McClendon about why he didn’t do something about UFO disclosure. Clinton replied, ‘Sarah, there is a government inside the government and I don’t control it’. Excuse me. Doesn’t the Commander-in-Chief and the person who allegedly has his finger on the nuclear trigger have a right to know what his subordinatess are doing? The people of the United States who have paid the bills have a right to know. The people of the world demand to know because it is our descendants, too, whose lives are in mortal jeopardy.

It is time for the people of the U.S. to launch a new war against the evil of lies, deceit, and darkness, and go all out to win the victory of truth, transparency, and light.”

[Here are some Indigenous Peoples' prophecies, beliefs concerning UFOs, Star Nation People/ETs to peruse:]

HOPI
On August 7, 1970, a spectacular UFO sighting was witnessed by dozens of people and photographed by Chuck Roberts of the Prescott (Arizona)"Courier". This sighting occurred after a "UFO calling" by Paul Solem and several Hopi Indians. This sighting was interpreted by some Hopis as being a partial fulfillment of a certain Hopi prophecy given by the Great Spirit Maasau and inscribed on Second Mesa, warning of the coming of Purification Day, when the true Hopi will be flown to other planets in "ships without wings."

Hopi prophecy also tells us that there will be a mass migration of Indians northward from Mexico and Central and South America. The migration will be led by a 130-year old Indian named Etchata Etchana. The movement will come after the huge fire and explosion that will herald the advent of the True White Brother.

According to Hopi belief, the survivors of the Great Deluge thousands of years ago split up into four groups that moved north, south, east and west. Only one group completed their journey -- to the North Pole and back -- under the guidance of a brilliant "star" in which the Great Spirit Maasau traveled. When he landed, he drew a petroglyph on Second Mesa, showing a maiden (with the traditional "butterfly" hair arrangement) riding in a wingless, dome- shaped craft. The petroglyph signified the coming Day of Purification when the true Hopi will fly to other planets in "ships without wings."

Native Prophecies Confirm the Reality of Flying Saucers
[From an article by Richard W. Kimball, Daily Courier Prescott]
Date: Sun, 24 Dec 1995

An old American Indian rock carving near Mishongnovi, Arizona accurately describes the existence of "flying saucers" and space travel, according to a Hopi Indian leader.

In the summer of 1970, the late Chief Dan Katchongva, in the company of his counselor Ralph Tawangyawma and interpreter Caroline Tawangyawma, went to the city of Prescott to learn more about the rash of UFOs recently seen in that area.

The residents of that central Arizona community said they saw hundreds of flying saucers in the night sky over the city for more than two weeks prior to the Hopi leader's arrival.

Katchongva, who died in 1972, said he believed the sightings were intimately connected to Hopi prophecy. The traditional Hopi chieftain had long been interested in UFOs because he believed they were a part of Hopi religious beliefs.

UFO researcher and former Prescott resident Paul Solem said the existence of the saucers justified an old Hopi prophecy that a "Day of Purification" was soon to arrive. It would be a day when all wicked people and wrong-doers would be punished or destroyed. Contact with flying saucers would signal the first step of an massive migration northward by Indians from Central and South America, Solem said.

Chief Katchongva told reporters of the Prescott Evening Courier that the petroglyph on the Hopi Reservation shows a definite connection between the Indians and visitors from space.

"We believe other planets are inhabited and that our prayers are heard there," he said. "The arrow on which the dome-shaped object rests, stands for travel through space," Katchongva said in explaining the rock carving.

"The Hopi maiden on the dome-shape (drawing) represents purity. Those Hopi who survive Purification Day will travel to other planets. We, the faithful Hopi, have seen the ships and know they are true," he said.

"We have watched nearly all of our brethren lose faith in the original Hopi teachings and go off on their own course. Near Oraibi the Plan of Life was clearly shown and we know that those who have forsaken the original teachings will pay with their lives when the True White Brother comes," he went on.

According to Katchongva, the Hopi prophecies say the Hopi people will be divided three times.

The first division occurred in 1906 when Chief You-kew-ma and his followers were forced out of the ancient Indian town of Oraibi to begin a new community in Hotevilla, he said.

"The second division took place in 1969 when Paul Solem came and contacted the flying saucers and they flew over and whispered their message. Shortly before Mr. Solem came, Titus Quomayumtewa saw a flying saucer and the Kachina that piloted it. "Paul Sewaemanewa saw the saucer years before when he had made his prayer rites," Katchongva said.

"These two men are of the faithful. We know we are to be divided once more and few will be left just before our True White Brother arrives with the matching pieces of stone tablet. Many Hopi men wear their bang haircut that represents a window from which they continue to look for the True White Brother," he added.

Who are the Star Nation People?

I have been asked many times who are the Star Nations to which I am always referring to in my talks and articles. Unless one understands the nature of the Native American culture, it can get confusing. We have a belief that we are related to the stars and have always been. It goes back into our history for thousands of years. One of my ancestral nations is Anishinabe, which means "People who fell from the sky". The very name explains that we believe our origin is of the stars. In another one of my blood lines "Osage", we have a drawing of a staircase with us walking down from the stars. It is a picture explaining our origin. I am of a clan called the Tiz-sho, which means the Sky People clan. That is why cloud is in my name. I am also of the Honga clan which is the Earth clan. That is why I have bear in my name. Native people believe we work with star languages. It is held as sacred in our culture. The connections to our star realitves are found in many things such as blankets, beadwork, paintings, wall hangings and is often in ceremony. The eight-pointed star is the most commonly used and could be said to be the native star. It carries many meanings but is a symbol of our connection to the Universe and the Earth. The belief we are connected to the stars in native culture is very common place.

Here are the words to a Star song we sing of the stars.

We are the stars which sing
We sing with our light
We are the bird of fire
We fly over the sky
Our light is a voice We make a road
For the spirit to pass over

(Algonquian "Song of the Stars")

We have star shields that carry spiritual understandings and essences and pictorially speaks of our connections to the stars. We understand that our spirtual and universal laws came from the stars. The native culture which spans 750 different nations in the US, feel we are connected with the stars nations and that they are our relatives. Our close relatives of Central and South America feel the same. We have names with stars in them, for example "Red Star". We believe that we are so closely related to the stars that we call them the Star Nation People. In the same understanding we would also call the trees, the Tree Nation people, the Cloud Nation people and the Stones, the Stone Nation people. We also are of the belief that we have star relatives that have visited us and there are living star relatives existing elsewhere in our Universe. We are related to all celestial bodies so much so that we call them relatives. For example, the Earth Mother, Sky Father. The universe and the sky are seen as the Grandfather. The moon is the Grandmother. It is my belief that these universal symbols that are appearing around the world and mostly in England are from these Star Nation people. They have put many symbols in the fields reflecting their origin to be that of the stars. There are some of us who believe that these star relatives are putting these symbols in the field to heal an out of balance Earth. We as people for the most part, have fallen into the traps of the material world and have forgotten our relatives. They wish to remind us. These star relatives are silent about their origin as they are all of these I have spoken of. It can be challenging for some people as the elements of the stars move into areas that are beyond the threshold of the logical mind, and swims in water that requires feeling and trust and higher sight. I can only say that our star relativities have given the people of Earth some of the most beautiful gifts imaginable, Star Glyphs.

Extraterrestrial contact with Earth's indigenous peoples reveal Western societally repressed knowledge
Guardians of the Past -- Harbingers of the future
by Julie Gillentine

Anthropological orthodoxy insists that civilization began in Sumeria six thousand years ago, and the modern metropolis is the pinnacle of culture and evolution on the planet. But, circa World War II, humanity shattered the rails of our technological playpen, sporting new atomic bombs. And, it is said, Space-faring ETs took notice, and silver saucers suddenly filled the skies. The UFO era was born; Roswell was a defining moment.

An alternate view is emerging, however. According to indigenous peoples from the Americas to South Africa, they have guarded the hidden history of humanity all along, quietly maintaining contact with visiting and resident stellar relatives. Mobilized, now, by what they believe is the fulfillment of long-prophesied warnings, the elders of these indigenous people around the world have begun, they say, to break vows of silence and share their ancient secret stellar wisdom.

African Epiphany

Thanks to the work of Robert Temple, in his book entitled The Sirius Mystery, the startling knowledge of Sirius and its dwarf companion by Africa's Dogon tribe is widely known. The Dogon possess knowledge, such as the star system's orbital periods and the companion star's invisibility, which cannot be confirmed by naked eye observation, and which modern Astronomers have learned only relatively recently.

In South Africa, Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa, a renowned Zulu elder and author of Song of the Stars: The Lore of a Zulu Shaman, claims that, in terms of knowledge of African shamans, this is but the tip of the astronomical iceberg. Credo Mutwa has chosen a path of 'openness', coming forward to share secret star lore of indigenous Black Africans. "I pray that this effort will unite thinking people around the world and diminish the severity of our prophecies," Credo explained recently. A master storyteller, he has traveled to more than twenty countries sharing his vision and wisdom despite the great personal loss which his openness has cost him. Credo's son was brutally murdered, apparently, by those who want him silenced.

Indigenous cosmology of stellar relationships is complex, he explains, often dwelling at the heart of sacred ceremony. Rich oral traditions, including protocol for contact and how to distinguish friendly off-earth visitors from those who are potentially harmful, have been handed down from one sangoma, (shaman) to the next for thousands of years. Star lore is an essential component of sangoma training.

According to Credo Mutwa, "In every language in Africa, the meaning of star is Bringer of knowledge? or Bringer of enlightenment." Elder Credo Mutwa has traveled the continent of Africa, sculpting haunting images of visitors from the stars, which were described to him by other African shamans. "These beings have been coming and going to Africa for forty thousand years," he says. Some bear striking resemblance to beings reported by modern experience's of the UFO phenomenon.

Cradled in South Africa's Krueger National Park lies a private game reserve called Timbavati. This emerald jewel of the African bush is almost mythical in reputation. White lions are born in here, it is said. "A long story is told about a chieftainess called Numbi," Elder Credo recounts. "Many generations ago, she and her people saw a burning white light like a star fall out of the sky right where Timbavati is today.

The story is that it was not a star; it was a shining ball of metal, brighter than the Sun. When this ball came down to the ground, Queen Numbi, who was a sick old woman at that time, went towards the light and was swallowed by the light. In that light, very faintly seen, were strange beings with very large heads. These beings received Numbi into the light, and for some hours she was inside. When she emerged and walked toward her people; she had become much younger than when she had gone into the light.

"After that star fell, stayed on the ground for some days, and then rose back into the sky, strange things started happening there. Cattle with two heads were born repeatedly. Lions, leopards and even impalas with snow white fur and green eyes were born, until to this very day. This story is one of the most amazing in Africa. Even to this day, white animals are still being born in Timbavati. Some years ago, a snow white elephant with beautiful blue eyes and long tusks used to roam the area, until white adventurers shot it.

"When a tribe of invaders appeared at Timbavati many years after Numbi's experience," Credo said, "they brought sacred stones which had been taken from Zimbabwe, and planted these stones there in honour of that place. Timbavati, which is Zulu for 'the falling down of a star'? is one of the holiest places in South Africa . But now its story is lost and has been overshadowed by a lot of nonsense."

The standing stones of Timbavati, brought from Zimbabwe to honour Numbi's visitors, are reminiscent of megalithic sites around the world and give mute testimony to the antiquity of the place. Most of the stones now lie on the ground, overgrown by the grasses of the African bush, but the outline of a large circle is suggested. This writer stood on the spot at March Equinox sunrise--the beginning of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere--and the alignment of certain stones which remain erect pointed to the eastern horizon.

The standing stones have a resonant quality when struck with a smaller stone, similar to the deep, bell like resonance of certain Egyptian monoliths. Adjacent to Timbavati is an enigmatic place known as Manyeleti, which means, "Gateway to the Stars." A community of thirty shamans lives there because they believe Manyeleti binds heaven and Earth.

In his book, Credo Mutwa relates a prophetic vision of four great leaders emerging around the world: red, black, white and yellow. The colours are the same as the Lakota Medicine Wheel, mentioned below, and four races of humanity. "These leaders will work to unite the planet," Elder Credo says. "One of these, a female leader, will arise in America. She will be called the Red Savior, because of the fiery color of her hair." Native Americans, such as the Lakota Sioux, have an expression, "Mitakuye Oyasin," which means "All our relations." Four-leggeds, winged ones, crawling ones, plant and stone nations are greeted as relatives. The Lakota Medicine Wheel is composed of red, black, white and yellow, representing four races of humanity. Within Native American cosmogony, it is natural to include and respect the Star Nations among extended family members.

Standing Elk, Dakota Elder and Sun Dance chief, recently presented an open letter to the Elders of Turtle Island. "My heart told me to speak of the secret knowledge of Native Americans concerning the Star Nations, since the time of our prophecies is at hand." Believing the knowledge belongs to the world, Standing Elk has created Star Knowledge Gatherings, a forum to share this information. Sharing such secrets is controversial and unpopular with some native peoples. Standing Elk, like his African counterpart, has received numerous threats.

At Standing Elk's gatherings, Native Elders share the conference podium with prestigious researchers in the UFO field. "Alien" contactees speak openly of their experiences. Indigenous Elders perform ceremony and give candid testimony of their knowledge and relationship to the Star Nations

Humanity as seeded from the stars

"Humanity was seeded from the stars, and we have a profound genetic kinship with humanity's stellar brethren," Rod Skenedore, a native elder, who told an audience of hundreds in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

At the same Star Knowledge Gathering, Quiche Mayan Elder, Grandmother Windrider, talked of her visions and her challenging personal path. "I challenge conscious people to stand together in peace and tolerance to make a difference at this time on Earth," Windrider said.

Mayan Calendar Connection

From Central America, Guatemalan Mayan Elder, don Alejandro, speaks of vast and repetitive cycles of time. "The Mayan calendar never has to be altered, because it is based on the stars," he points out. Our unwieldy western counterpart, on the other hand, has been changed many times and is still not very accurate. "This knowledge was bequeathed to the Mayas by the Abuelos, the grandfathers, who came from the stars," Don Alejandro said. He enigmatically links the origin and destiny of the Mayas with the Pleiades, who he says, were called May. According to the work of archeoastronomer Anthony Aveni, certain Mayan sites appear to be aligned with zenith rising of the Pleiades. One of the named stars in the constellation of the Pleiades, The Seven Sisters, is Maia.

December 21, 2012, will be the end of the current Mayan long count. According to scholars, this Great Cycle began August 11, 3114 BC. In Mayan terms this time period equals thirteen baktuns. In the Gregorian lexicon, this equals 5125 years. Five Great Cycles, or suns, equals 25,625 years, which is amazingly close to what modern astronomers count as one cycle of the precession of the equinoxes, 25,920 years. Mayan day-keepers say we are living in the time of the fifth sun, approaching the end of a major cycle. Mayan prophecies also point to this time as filled with earth changes and transformation.

On December 21, 2012, winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, a significant astronomical event will occur. From the vantage point of Earth, looking through the constellation of Sagittarius toward the center of our Milky Way galaxy, our Sun will align the Galactic Centre. This close conjunction occurs only during a specific epoch each twenty-six thousand years. In his book Maya Cosmogenesis, John Major Jenkins likens the four quarters of the processional cycle to seasons of a grand year. He believes this juncture is the completion of one full cycle, described and monitored by the sophisticated Mayan calendar.

Prophets and Seers

Ancient prophets and modern seers seem to speak with one voice and see with a single eye. The Bible, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, Hindu texts and Hopi prophecies predicted this time on earth would be marked by miracles and cataclysm, the storm before a long-prophesied golden age.

Credo Mutwa told me, "Anyone who investigates will come upon this amazing fact. In South America, in Brazil, in Peru and in Bolivia, different Native American tribes are expecting a worldwide cataclysm in this coming century. They have been expecting this cataclysm for centuries, and they knew it would occur very early in this coming century."

If numerous traditions concur that we are poised at the culmination of their prophecies, how did they know the specific time frame thousands of years ago? If the triggering event of global cataclysm is an external object like a comet, with a cyclical orbital period, its return would be predictable and monitoring the movements in the sky would be vital. The last such juncture seems to have occurred roughly thirteen thousand years ago, halfway through this large cycle and resulting, it would seem, in the last ice age.

Pieces of this puzzle continue to move into position. Investigators increasingly believe that our history, and that of our progenitors, has been recorded in legend, myth and star lore. William Sullivan's ground breaking work with the Incas, (Secret of the Incas), decoded myths as astronomical metaphor. Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock have shown that megalithic monuments contain critical stellar alignments, and, when understood, convey messages and timing significance. Physical evidence of earlier life experiences may have been left on Mars, as Richard Hoagland and others suggest.

Other forgotten civilizations, perhaps several, may have preceded us -- their life cycles and attainments terminated by cataclysmic events which also destroyed the evidence. Humanity's true origins and history may have been bequeathed to us through the metaphorical oral traditions of Earth's indigenous peoples and a world wide web of stone. Sherlock Holmes asserted that the best place to hide something is in plain sight. It appears that once we have decoded these Rosetta Stones of the stars, our place in the interplanetary scheme may become more clear. When we remember the code and decipher the messages, the truth may be obvious.
